Temporary Restaurant Permit
In an effort to help The City of Huber Heights’ businesses recover from the mandated shutdowns and social distancing requirements, the City will allow a new temporary onsite outdoor seating permit which will allow for a portion of their already approved seating to be moved outdoors. Due to the social distancing requirements of the governor’s executive order, the City understands that some restaurant establishments will seek alternatives to their indoor and outdoor configurations by extending operations to new outdoor areas including sidewalks, parking lots, etc.
To ensure that the above social distancing requirements are met while encouraging restaurant establishments to resume operations, the City is providing flexible outdoor operations allowances where they may not be permitted by City Code otherwise. Click here to view the plan and application.
Before beginning construction, (including addition, exterior alteration, reconstruction, or relocation) of any building or accessory structure on a residential property, a Zoning Certificate (permit) must be obtained. There is a $30.00 application fee for each permit.
Permits are typically issued within a week after you apply. Your application must be filled out completely; incomplete applications will not be processed. Drawings are always helpful and may be required for certain structures. Call 937-237-5815 to inquire about the need for drawings of your project.

The City does not issue permits or require inspections for Decks, Patios, or Fences. Please contact Montgomery County at 937-225-4622 for decks over 200 sq. ft. in area or over 3 feet in height.
Temporary Sale Permits (Garage, Estate, Auction)
Huber Heights residents are permitted to hold two temporary sales in a calendar year. Click here to view the general rules and application for a temporary sale.
Zoning and Building Permits provide uniform minimum standards for the construction, alteration, repair and maintenance of buildings and structures. The City of Huber Heights utilizes Montgomery County Building Department (MCBD) as their own; to reach them please call 937-225-4622. The following need MCBD inspections:
- New and Replacement Plumbing
- Heating and Air Conditioning
- Electrical Wiring
- Sign Installation and/or Refacing
- Framing for Interior or Exterior Renovations or Repairs
New Construction Permits
The City of Huber Heights requires a permit before beginning construction, reconstruction, moving, exterior alteration or addition to any building or structure. Submission requires three copies of site and construction plans drawn to scale. These plans may be emailed, or dropped off at City Hall.
