Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA)

Overview

The Board of Zoning Appeals is a quasi-judicial board of review comprised of volunteer citizens from within our city. The Board is tasked with conducting public hearings in which requests are heard for variances from the City’s Zoning Code regarding building location, size, and setback as well as signage size and setback. The Board’s goal is to render decisions that remain in harmony with the intent and purpose of the applicable legislation.

The Board of Zoning Appeals also hears and determines appeals from any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by City Staff charged with the enforcement or application of Zoning ordinances and resolutions. The Board of Zoning Appeals was established by the City Charter.
