This next life chapter looks quite different than it did for previous generations. For starters, many retirees will be graced with more years, thanks to advances in medicine, coupled with more attention to diet and exercise.

That's good news, right? But with more years, come new opportunities to seize and new challenges to solve.

In this workshop, facilitated by Donna Kastner, Del Mar Encore Fellow with The Dayton Foundation, we'll examine the 8 Domains of Livability, a framework used by the many towns, cities, counties and states enrolled in the AARP Network of Age-Friendly States & Communities to organize and prioritize their work to become more livable for both older residents and people of all ages.

The 8 Domains of Livability include:

  1. Outdoor Spaces & Buildings
  2. Transportation
  3. Housing
  4. Social Participation
  5. Respect and Social Inclusion
  6. Work and Civic Engagement
  7. Communication and Information
  8. Community and Health Services

Age-Friendly Huber Heights

Kyren Gantt, Assistant to the City Manager and Nancy Byrge, At Large Councilmember for the City of Huber Heights will join us to share more about key findings from needs assessments for older adults. They will also share more about domains they believe merit more attention, as Huber Heights advances to the Action Plan stage.

This session will wrap up with an Open Forum, where participants can ask questions and share thoughts about the road ahead.
