The water tower located on Stonehurst Drive will be repaired and repainted in the next few months. The water tower is a 1,500,000-gallon standpipe that was originally constructed in 1976. The tower is 104 feet tall and it was last painted in 2004. Last fall, the City went out for proposals to repair and repaint the interior and exterior of the tower. There were nine contractors that submitted bids for the work. The low bidder was Worldwide Industries and their bid was $429,600. They plan to begin the repairs at the beginning of March and depending on weather, will complete the painting project in about 3 months. The interior and exterior repairs include an abrasive blast cleaning, pit welding, and painting. The work performed by Worldwide Industries will be inspected by Nelson Tank Engineering & Consulting. The inspector will be onsite for the total length of the project.
