Types of Structures

Accessory Building - Accessory buildings are permitted in any Residential, Commercial, or Agricultural district. The structure may be placed in any rear yard at least 5' from the side and rear lot lines and not within any utility easements, and shall not exceed 1-1/2 stories or 14' in height. In order for a structure to be classified as an accessory building it must be at least 5' from any permanent structure.

Storage Shed - Storage sheds should not exceed 12' x 12' in area and 8' in height. Only one storage shed per lot in any Residential or Agricultural District, and must be at least 5' from any rear or side property line.

Swimming Pools - Above-ground, In-Ground, or Inflatable. Any pool containing or capable of containing water to a depth at any point greater than 2' may not be within 10' of the property line. Such distance shall be measured from the water line of the pool. The swimming pool, or the entire property on which it is located, must be walled or fenced. The fence or wall must be at least 5' in height.

Detached Garage - Detached garages must be at least 5' from any permanent structure. The structure shall not exceed 1-1/2 stories or 14' in height and is permitted in any rear yard if not within 5' of the side and rear lot lines or not within any utility easements.

Carports - Carports may extend into any side yard up to 5' from the side lot line and into any rear yard up to 10' from the rear lot line.

Rear and Side Patio Covers - Accessory buildings are permitted in any Residential, Commercial, or Agricultural district. The structure may be placed in any rear yard at least 5' from the side and rear lot lines and not within any utility easements, and shall not exceed 1-1/2 stories or 14' in height. In order for a structure to be classified as an accessory building it must be at least 5' from any permanent structure.

Rear Patio Enclosures - Rear patio enclosures (glass and screen) shall not project into the rear yard more than 12' from the building line and must meet the minimum side yard width requirements in the applicable Zoning District.

Remodeling - All remodeling (structural alteration of exterior walls) requires a Zoning Certificate.

Room Addition - Room Additions must meet the minimum area standards for the applicable Zoning District.
